Confit de France selected one of the finest producers in France which has acquired international recognition for its range of Confit Duck and ready Gourmet Meals such as Cassoulet, Coq au vin or Duck with orange (e.g. Canard à l'orange). For more than thirty years, Spanghero's has been supplying its clients with authentic traditional products.
Laurent and Claude Spanghero started their business in 1970 in the historic market town of Castelnaudary, which lies in the heart of the Lauragais region of the South of France. The brothers are members of a famous French rugby family. Claude made 22 appearances for the National team in the 1970s. In business Laurent has been president of the European Livestock and Meat Trading Union. The Spanghero family business thus combines a heritage of working the land, years of experience and the culinary traditions true to South West France, with modern business acumen and commercial know-how. That is how they came to be leading suppliers of regional prepared dishes and cooked meats. Spanghero was licensed ISO 9002 in 1995. In 2003, the activity of Cooked Dishes was licensed ISO 9001 (V2000) and in December 2005, Spanghero was registered IFS (International Food Standard) superior level. Spanghero now employs around 500 people to produce 'home made' products in and around its traditional base of Castelnaudary in South West France. It operates a slaughterhouse, a factory for cooked dishes (conserves) and two sites for transforming meats (fresh sausages and grilled meats as well as a unit for minced meat)
On the back of a long farming tradition, they are quickly expanding their business into the production of ready meals and specialities and leverage locally sourced meats for their products.

Today, Spanghero enjoys an international reputation for their "savoir faire" and quality of production; they are proud to carry the legacy from their founders and promote the best gastronomy tradition from the South West France. |
